Description
Summary:博士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 自然科學教育學系碩士班 === 101 === The purpose of this study is to explore the implementation of multicultural education in the field of science and technology teaching on students’ two learning achievements of Multicultural Literacy, Plants Concept and Earth of Mountains and Rivers, and understand the students’ experiences and feedback after the implementation of integrated curriculum. The quasi experimental design was used in this study, the subjects were students in four classes of the fifth graders selected from an urban elementary school in New Taipei City, the two experimental classes used the teaching of multicultural education in the field of science and technology; the other two control classes used only normal science instructions as a comparison. The research instruments include “Multicultural Literacy Scale”, ” the Achievement Test of Plants Concept”, ” the Achievement Test of Earth of Mountains and Rivers.” A survey was conducted before and after one week, and the resulting data were analyzed by the Independent-Sample t Test, ANCOVA to understand changes. Then based on “interviews”, ”learning sheets”, ” questionnaire surveys “, ” the teacher’s personal reflection journals “ and other qualitative data for analysis, we discuss with results. The findings of the research are as follows: 1.In the aspect of Multicultural literacy , the experimental group did remarkably better than the control group as regards the scores of the total scale (F=131.595, p<.001) and the subscales, Multicultural Attitude (F=49.7, p<.001) and the Multicultural Behavior (F=108.56, p<.001).In the aspect of Achievement Test of Plants Concept, there’s no significant defferences although the experimental group actually performed a little better than the control group. 2.In the aspect of Achievement Test of Plants Concept, there’s no significant defferences although the experimental group actually performed a little better than the control clsaaes. 3.In the aspect of Achievement Test of Earth of Mountains and Rivers, there’s still no significant differences although the experimental group also showed better performance than the control group. 4.Students’ feedbacks from the implementation of integrated curriculum can be summarized as follows. First, students can enhance their multicultural knowledge through curriculum. Second, students’ are highly interested in such curriculum. Third, combining multicultural education with science education is highly feasible. Finally, studentsget a new point of view of on ethnicism.
