Questionnaire surveys were used as a research method to question all the regular teachers in Yi-lan County. Based on the statistical method, data which was collected in this research was analyzed by means of descriptive statistics, independent sample mean t-test, ANOVA analysis and canonical correlation analysis. The conclusions gleaned from this research are listed below: 1. Junior high school’s teachers’ perception of the Leadership styles of principals in Yi-lan County tended to be seen as “Laissez-fair” with regards to power relations and “ivory tower” in relation to public relations. 2. Teachers with a BA degree tended to view the leadership style of principals as being in the categories of good relationship leadership, ivory tower leadership, consideration leadership and task leadership. 3. Designated teachers tended to view the leadership style of principals in junior high schools in Yi-lan County as being in the categories of political leadership, “Laissez-fair” and task leadership. 4. Questionnaire respondents who had less than 5 years experience tended to view the leadership style of principals as being in the categories of good leadership, consideration leadership and task leadership. 5. Teachers in schools with over 73 classes showed more understanding of principals’ leadership styles than those in schools with under 12 classes or between 49 - 72 classes. 6. Junior high school teachers in Yilan County showed a significantly higher tendency to view the organizational culture as hierarchical. 7. Junior high school teachers, under age of 30 with fewer than 5 years experience and a BA degree showed a significantly higher tendency to view the organizational culture as being a harmony and consensus culture. 8. Questionnaire respondents who are subject teachers tend to view the organizational culture of schools as being rational culture oriented and hierarchical culture oriented. 9. Junior high school teachers from schools with 49 to 72 classes tended to view the organizational culture of schools as having a development culture and a hierarchical culture. Those in the 13 to 48 class sized schools, tended to view the culture as rational culture and harmony culture. 10. Leadership strategies that principals make use of, such as communication, negotiation, and respecting opinions from school faculties help to promote the hierarchical concept and culture, as well as the development culture. The results of this research may be of use as a reference for educational administrators, school principals and future researches to aide further research.
