In order to clarify the background and occurrence of the Bei-pu Incident, chapter 2 will focus on the discussion of the geographical and cultural context, the new regime and local community in Hsin-Chu, the remote causes and processes. Then the following three chapters will respectively investigate the disputes of the Bei-pu Incident in 《The General History of Taiwan》. The reasons why the differences may occur are related to the divergence of national identity. Chapter 6 will analyze the reliability of Tsai Ching-lin’s private content, and discuss the motivations for the uprising of the Bei-pu Incident. Could Tsai’s private morality be one of the causes of the incident? Or was the event really a revolution inspired by Dr. Sun Yat-sen? With the volume of seventy-four of 《The General History of Taiwan》, there are fifty-seven that discuss the Bei-pu Incident. Among them, the respective proportion of negative, positive and neutral narrative are 29.8%, 47.4% and 22.8%.The past history education emphasizing nationalism often created the awareness of Taiwanese national identity through Chinese history and geography. This paper also concludes in the similar way that the positive narrative of the text is the majority. The related discussions of the Bei-pu Incident in 《The General History of Taiwan》 still have no conclusions and are sensitive disputes. When emphasizing that the basis of history are the facts and the angle of history will be defined from the academic experts, the researcher hopes this paper would create a local historical interpretation with the viewpoint of Taiwanese.
