Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 企業管理學系 === 101 === Starting an own enterprise is nowadays an increasingly popular option. However, it is still a big challenge for the entrepreneurs whether they can avoid the failure or not. There are three purposes of this research. In the first place, we want to investigate the difficulties before the entrepreneur started his own enterprise and during the entrepreneurial activity. Secondly, we try to comprehend the key failure factors of the enterprise. Finally, we attempt to probe into the entrepreneurial process from the entrepreneur prepared to start his own enterprise to the business closed. Being different from former researches related to the issues of opportunity recognition or entrepreneurial success, this paper integrates the key successful factors of new venture from Song et al., Duchesneau & Gartner, Kakati and the resources, opportunities and team model from Timmons into the conceptual framework. We use in-depth interviewing method to collect data from entrepreneurs who had already closed their own business, and develop the path diagram of entrepreneurial failure. This paper offers not only suggestions for entrepreneurs but also provides references for the related units. To explore the difficulties before entrepreneurial activity and during the entrepreneurial activity that the entrepreneur might face, the author employed an in-depth interviewing approach by interviewing 7 entrepreneurs who had experienced failure once or even more in the past. The results showed that entrepreneurs would not prepare thoroughly beforehand and even did not understand the entirely industry which they engaged in are the key failure factors in the preparation of entrepreneur activity stage. When the business entity had been established, it would move slowly towards to the way of failure while the entrepreneur made some mistakes, mismanaging the team or improper handled the capital. Eventually, entrepreneurs ended their business entity because they had no surplus capital so that they could revive again. Consequently, the Opportunity, Resource and Team model Timmons proposed plays an important role in entrepreneurial field and we also can use the model to measure the performance during the entrepreneurial process.
