The research framework combines two major theories in this field: Porter’s diamond model and HBR business model perspective. One of the comparative advantages of this industry is from the business ecology. The business ecology of the LED agriculture lighting industry in Taiwan provides a, the production capabilities of LED modules and the entire system, b, the customer demands for integration of lighting technology and agricultural production, c, strong value chain and supporting industries, d, the adoption of OBM strategy, e, strong government support. Another source of the comparative advantages is from the business models adopted by the two leading firms in this industry. Reliable supply of high quality produces is the customer value proposition. A 0.33 mark-up forms the basics of the profit formula. Key resources are production management and cross-industry strategic alliances. Key processes are value chain integration and the provision of standardized product or service processes. The results show that there are rooms for improvement. To improve the comparative advantages of this industry, more supports from the business ecology are needed, such as intensifying research and development and increasing R & D supports from the government. Also needed are stronger business model design and implementation, such as improving the capability of independent innovation and comprehensive approach to the commercialization of related new technology.
