The formal teaching plan was designed and implemented based on the preliminary results of the tentative teaching plan. The effect on student’s English learning attitude and confidence was examined through the formal teaching procedure. This study was conducted with the methodology of action research. The objects are the 31 students in the researcher’s class. Data was collected and analyzed by the use of class observation, formal and informal interviews, questionnaires and feedback forms. The whole teaching time is 2 classes a week for a total of 12 weeks. The study shows the results: 1. The effect on the students’ learning attitude: (1) Readers Theater improves the students’ English reading attitude. (2) Readers Theater enhances the students’ confidence in oral English. (3) Readers Theater strengthens the students’ concept of teamwork. 2. The researcher’s reflections toward RT teaching: (1) Readers Theater is a suitable way to apply to English teaching. (2) Cooperative learning facilitates the multiple teaching methods. (3) Cooperative learning enhances the students’ social consciousness. (4) Readers Theater improves the relationship between the teacher and the students. (5) The teachers need to keep their English proficiency.
