This is the initiation of the thesis, wishing to explore the difficulties and stress that social workers experiencing in government department. To explore the stressors with an objective stand point of view, the researcher expects to offer suggestions to decrease the stress level for the social workers. According to this, the four purposes of the research on social workers in TaiTung County government department are: 1. To understand the role and function of the social workers 2. To explore their stressors and the stress level 3. To understand their applications to adjust the stress. 4.To offer suggestions accordingly to the results for the management staff and those may have concerned   Applying‘judgmental sampling’depth interview method, the researcher interview ten social workers in government department and explore their stress from work and their applications of adjustment. The result indicates: 1. Due to the role and the function of the position, there exist multiple layers of interpersonal relationships and diverse goals that the social workers have to reach when fulfilling the requirement of the position. Thus result in different stressors and diverse representation. 2. The stressors of the social workers in TaiTung government department can be divided into different aspects: the individual, the work it self, the role, the organization and the context.The result indicates that the main stressors are (1)the overloading of the the work (2) the lack amount of the time to fulfill the requirement of the work (3) the concern from the context, such as the citizens, other governmental departments, the media often results in the interference with the work.The three stressors listed are highly related. The key factors are overloading of the work. If the load can be decreased, the lack amount of time and the stress from the context can also be released. 3. The adjustments of the stress include two levels:(1) individual level (2).support from context The adjustments in the individual level are lack of diversity, which indicates the lack of the resources. Concerning the support from the context, the social workers expect the assistance and the support from the government department when facing stressors. According to the indication of the result, the researcher suggests: 1. in the department level: (1)hire more workers to decrease the loading of the work (2)understanding the stress of social workers (3)to enhance professional training (4)offering support from the management level 2. in the individual level: (1)enhance the connection with friends and family members (2)facing difficulties from the work by actively initiate communications
