碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 政治學研究所 === 101 === The main concern of this thesis is the historic context of the development of Taiwan’s bicycle industry. Originally, Taiwan was an export market for Japan. Afterwards, the bicycle industry was financially supported and subsidized by the government. Thereafter, the industry was transformed to be dominated by the bicycle manufacturers and parts manufacturers. In the process of its development, it was related to the overall economic development of Taiwan, the factors of international politics and economy, the global manufacturers and competitors, the consumption markets, and the rewards and subsidies from the government. Besides, it was associated with the development stages of the industry itself. In other words, it evolved from the stage of OEM into that of ODM and OBM. Moreover, the directions of the industry development was led by the actors, such as the domestic and international manufactures, their competitors, the government as well as the consumers, and their interactions. Hence, by means of the actors and their interactions, this thesis is to know the history and context of the development of Taiwan’s bicycle industry, and to analyze the political and economic factors.
