Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 美術學系 === 101 === This thesis is a study of my work, the“ Incisions of distant memories” series from 2008 to 2012. The main point of the series is using technique of “ object casting” to do sculpture creation and to discuss and study particular art subjects through the creative process such as“ Duplication” .On the conception of“ Change of Essence,” I discuss the change of the essence in the object casting process and use different techniques in the process such as subtraction, assimilation to research what change is in substitution of the casting process. I am also interested in some visual effects in my works such as parting lines and cracks as well as the messages and implications they convey. Secondly, I try to discuss the interacting relation between human and object as well as the concept of memory trace. By using used objects we could observe similar emotions on people. It also implies similar life memory. By choosing particular objects, I redisplay passing emotion, life experience and memory in childhood to trigger people’s response and vibration. In the end, I compare the corpses in the ruin of Pompeii that was submerged by volcanic ash with the mold on surface of the sculpture that was created by object casting process. The corpse was rotten and coated with lava, which is very similar with the surface on my work. Through the point of “Aesthetics of Ruins” in art history to analyze the comparison, I detected that the features of my works is resembled with the objects in the ruin that was erased from people’s memory. They are like a tiny dust that contains everlasting time and a sense of loneliness.
