Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 廣播電視學系應用媒體藝術班 === 101 === Scientific and technological development has opened up new possibilities and allows greater diversity for artistic creation. In relation to photography at least, taking a photo can still have the taint of invasive behavior. Today, anyone can be a creator and publisher by using photographic equipment and Internet.Because of this, the perception of portrait rights has changedover time. Thesechangeshave affected the relationship between photographers and their subjects, and have in turn made photography a common language that combines artistic expression, observation and shared experience. Documentary photographyis not only a way ofrecording; it is also a medium through which the creator can express their point of view. At the time a photograph is taken, the photographer’s emotions and changes in the surroundings will affect the resulting photo. Through constant observation and use of particular viewing angles, photographers are able to express their detailed perception and response to what they see. Although the “decisive moment” determines isthe exact moment when the photo is taken, what is created is an enduring work that has its specific cultural and historical value. Through the course of many of the visits to Lanyu and a continuous process of “Lanyuwatching,” I have remainedfull of curiosity about the island’s Tao indigenous people and amazed by the underwater world that surround it. I also see how powerless the residents are in the face of advancing technology and environmental depredation. The dumping of nuclear waste on the island has now caused Lanyu and its people to be equated with this issue. The Fukushima nuclear disaster highlighted the consequences of mankind’s pursuit of ever-greater convenience at the expense of the environment. Pollution caused by rampant development, combined with the force of natural disasters, will inevitably create situations that cannot be contained. The further we push our development, the more environmental disasters we can expect in return. We should rethink our relationship with nature, engaging with it with greater humility and respect. If we merely rely on technology to support our life on this planet, our ability to survive here will be diminished. The problems faced by Lanyuarea microcosm of the problems faced by virtually every ecosystem on earth. For me, as a maker for images, the real appearance of life and local culture are the most important issues to record. By combining documentary photography with underwater photography,I look forward to create worksthatdiffer from images shot on land and demonstrate my viewpoint and thoughts about current society.
