Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 藝術管理與文化政策研究所 === 101 === This essay focuses on the values and applications of the artist house museums, take Xiao Ru-Song Art Park for example, I examine the value of its establishment and developing process in application by adopting the cultural and museum-related theories on four specific value dimensions: intrinsic values, use values, institutional values and instrumental values. The consequence shows that the multiple ways Xiao Ru-Song Art Park adopts in promotion has successfully achieved the values stated above. For one thing, the aesthetic spirit inside Xiao’s works and the historical value of Japanese dorms matches with intrinsic values. Second, the free exhibition, leisure function, and volunteer training courses as one sort of the city service elevates the accessibilities for all visitors in the use values, in addition, the digital archives and internet resources also provide the indirect use values. Furthermore, to speak of the institutional values, Xiao Ru-Song Art Park regards itself as a resource center, local art place, and a bridge to connect with the public in providing the cultural service. And the last but not the least, in terms of the instrumental values, the emphasis of its educational function and public programs not only attracts more participants but contributes to the revitalization of the museum. Nowadays, as a cultural and social institution, the artist house museums could reconsider their social role in the present society from a flexible and open perspective, not to mention its potentiality for the public and educational service. To achieve the goal of the artist house museums to disclose the true spirit of the artist, the artist house museums could excavate the most important symbolic values and connect with the public by multiple programs. To sum up, by discovering the true spirit of artist and the connection of the society, the artist house museums could take a step further to result in more values and the possibility of sustainable management.
