Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 企業管理系 === 101 === As more and more Asian players forward to MLB, it accompanied by more and more posting fee of Asian players. Thus, the U.S. media doubt is it worth to spend a lot of money every year for these Asia players? On the other hand, the leading role of Money ball, the manager of Oakland Athletics Billy Beane, used the limited resource to create an impressive legend of sport. As a result, how to establish a competitive and cost-effective team became the final goal for the MLB managers. However, large market teams still have a contract with players by paying lots of money. Media of Sports ridiculed them as “idiot pellets.” Therefore, in order to explore the big market team’s salary policy and its impact on development of the strategic direction of the Asian market, our research used Network DEA to analyze 30 teams of MLB between 2005 to 2009 season. We used the team value as the dependent variable, the efficiency of the different models as independent variable to do penal data analysis. Next, we use Tobit panel data to analyze the major factor which caused efficiency difference. The results showed that using salary in exchange of player's performance, due to their salaries were higher than other teams, the efficiency of big market team generally poor. However the wins in exchange of market revenue, the efficiency of big market team obviously rose. Tobit panel analysis indicated that the teams which were concerned by Asia countries (Taiwan, Japan) also had great performance.
