Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 電子工程系 === 101 === In the last few decades, telecom operators enable mobile devices to connect to the internet, which is changing the main traffic type of mobile communications from voice to data. With the fast development of communication techniques, we have reason to believe that the 4G is on the corner. In the same time, with the substantial improvements in coverage and transmission rate, mobile communications will become more and more important in everyone's daily life. However, with the idea of environmental protection rising, requirements of reducing energy usage are also recommended in several fields including mobile communications. To achieve the requirements, a concept called “green communications” is proposed. Telecom operators should not only focus on the coverage and transmission rate in the future, but also the energy consumption. It is a essential problem to keep the balance between the lower enery cost and maintaining the stable quality of service in the same time. Some studies which emphasise on trade-off between system energy and other performance parameters are published in the recent years. Cooperative communications are another popular topic in the telecom field. The main concept is to put a relay between the source and the destination to enhance the transmission performance. Although the change of system structure could make performance better, the relay node also raise the system requirement on energy. In this thesis, we adopt a basic cooperative communication model and try to analyse the tradeoff between system delay and energy with different operation modes. We also try to find the optimal operation mode under constrained energy or delay conditions, helping the system to achieve the goal of reducing energy usage while keeping acceptable transmission delay in the meanwhile.
