Combustor consists of two concentric pipes whose inner tube is burner and outer tube has five holes to measure the combustion temperature. The fuel is methanol - air. First, we prepare Pt/Al2O3 and Pt/BN-Al2O3 catalysts and compare with different catalysts、Pt loading and flow rate of methanol-air on combustion characteristics. Finally, the study selects an optimum Pt loading. Under adiabatic combustion, the results showed that methanol-air catalytic combustion was a fast chemical reaction which quickly rises from room temperature to high temperature. The start-rising time of Pt/BN-Al2O3 is faster than that of Pt/Al2O3, and the temperature distribution of the former is more uniform than the latter. The binary support catalysts of boron nitride-alumina and the combustor is required for short start-up time, the internal temperature being raised even highly to achieve a good heating effect.
