Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立聯合大學 === 機械工程學系碩士班 === 101 === The objectives of the present study was to investigate the effect of shield gas compositions on ferrite content, microstructure, toughness, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties in austenitic stainless steel weldment. Autogenous plasma arc welding (PAW) was conducted on SUS 304 stainless steel to produce a bead-on-plate joint. The experimental results show that delta ferrite content in austenitic stainless steel welds decreased as nitrogen addition to the argon shielding gas increased. Added few of nitrogen to the shielding gas has a remarkable effect on ferrite number reduction in austenitic stainless steel welds. This study discovered that not only improved corrosion resistance but also enhanced hardness and toughness of austenitic stainless steel welds by added nitrogen to shielding gas during welding process. We inferred the nitrogen ions can be absorbed during welding results in the solid solution strengthening and precipitation hardening.
