Description
Summary:碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 觀光事業學系 === 101 === In recent years, issues of senior citizens and pilgrims have been discussed in the leisure research field. Spirituality is a very important factor for the seniors, but rarely explored in the field of leisure research. This study assessed the seniors’ spirituality and leisure constraint first, and the examined the influences of spirituality and leisure constraint of seniors on their leisure experience and well-being participating the pilgrimages. No previously literature examined the relationship among these variables. Therefore, this study proposed a research model and hypotheses, and verified spirituality is one of the important factors for the elderly in the participation of leisure activities. Research employed a quantitative method with survey sampling of Taiwan seniors over the age of 55 participated in the pilgrimages. Statistical analyses used descriptive statistics, reliability test by SPSS and CFA, SEM by AMOS. Results indicated that the elderly recognize the spirituality, having good leisure experience and feel the happiness during pilgrimages. Spirituality of pilgrimage had positive effects, and leisure constraint had negative effects on leisure experience and well-being. Leisure experience and well-being had positive effects on revisit willingness, respectively. The needs of older people engage in leisure activities are increasing annually. Motivations and considerations engaged in leisure activities are not the same as those of other ethnic groups. Pilgrimage in Taiwan is a deeply religious and cultural integration of leisure activities, but also brings many economic benefits to Taiwan's tourism. This study suggested that for the planning of pilgrims and leisure activities, it is necessary to meet the spiritual needs of the elderly, reduce leisure constraint and to enhance the leisure experience and happiness of the elderly, the revisit intentions of participating the pilgrimages will be enhanced.
