In addition, the researcher tried to explore the differences in reading motivation among students of different backgrounds. A total of 816 students and 30 class teachers participated in this study. The students filled out the questionnaires of reading motivation and home reading activities, and the teachers filled out the questionnaire of class reading activities. Results of Descriptive Statistics, T-test, One-way ANOVA, and Hierarchical Linear Model ( HLM) showed that: 1. The class reading activities were at fair level, but the home reading activities were at low to middle levels. 2. The reading motivation of the students were high in average. 3. Students of different sex and family social economic status (SES) differed in their home reading activities. Female scored higher than male. High SES families scored higher than low SES families. 4. The differences of students' reading motivation were more predictable with home readingactivities than class reading activities. 5. Children tended to have better reading motivation if the family could use more social resources, and the class teachers could provide richer library resources. Suggestions for parents, educators, and further researchers were provided based on the results. Lu, Wenhui 呂文惠 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 96 zh-TW
