However, since the ecological consciousness is burgeoning, Coca-Cola’s worldwide operation has already caused some controversies. Thus, it comes to many campaigns against Coca-Cola, and those negative issues include the violation of rights of labours, the threat towards the labours’ safety in the early period and bring about some problems including water shortage, water contamination, and food safety suspicion, etc. Water is important during Coke’s manufacturing process because water is the key component of making coke. Since water is being processed, manufactured, packed and sold in the end, it also means water is being privatized into the market. As far as India concerned, India is the developing country willing to appeal to foreign investment and strengthen its national capability; therefore, water will be the key role in India’s entire national development. However, the focus from Coke Justice exactly highlights the water conflict about the unequal distribution between multinational companies and the local residents. Generally speaking, the multinational company like Coca-Cola may marginalize the vulnerable ones in India during the procedure of redistribution of global wealth and resources. Therefore, this dissertation is expecting to observe the Coke Justice event happened in India, by investigating India’s background, process and its aftermath, so as to understand where the injustice Coca-Cola caused, what the justice those protestors advocated for, and how multinational companies exploit into the third countries in modern ages.
