The Operation Efficiency Analysis of Banks in Six Southeast Asia Countries－An Application of Metafrontier Approach

碩士 === 東吳大學 === 經濟學系 === 102 === Southeast Asia countries to actively promote regional economic integration , showing the influence of politics and the economy continues to expand, after RCEP (Regional Com-prehensive Economic Partnership,RCEP)signed an agreement that allows the regional economy more market reach more than 30 million population , its hidden potential for economic development it really should not be underestimated. This study focused on six countries in Southeast Asia operating performance ( Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand , Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore ) analysis of the banking industry , the use of the common border 2007-2011 Bankscope database to DEA and O'Donnell (2008) proposed the Metafrotier approach to calculates the metafrontier technical efficiency and technology gap ratio , while taking advantage of Tobit regression model tries to find the key factors affecting the metafrontier technical efficiency and technology gap ratio. The empirical results show the efficiency of the best performing technology in Thailand , Malaysia and Singapore, in addition to only 2,008 won , the rest are in last place . Singapore and Malaysia showed the opposite trend, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam more stable performance . The regression analysis showed that industrial concentration, only common equity ratio of technical efficiency has a positive relationship, but was negatively correlated with socioeconomic status . In addition the current ratio , the ratio of net loans to total assets and stock turnover rate of the three factors for the metafrontier technical efficiency and technological gap ratio have positive relationships , help to improve the efficiency values. But religion, stock market capitalization to GDP ratio , the quality and extent of bureaucratic rule variables accounted for a metafrontier technical efficiency and technology gap ratio are negatively related .
