Foxconn was founded in 1974 and it has become the leading ODM/OEM supplier of IT gears for super brand names. Therefore, the current study investigates the business strategy and core competence of Foxconn, as well as its competitive strategies, which have led Foxconn in its transformation from a small company to a significant player in the global IT market. Foxconn excelled in precision mechanics for molding and tooling which is essential to the manufacture of most IT peripherals. Besides, Foxconn has always selected its target market and prepared, in advance, for its new core competences accordingly. That is the reason why the researcher chose Foxconn as the study case to demonstrate the evolution of becoming the world’s number one Electronic Manufacturing Service (EMS) provider. The findings obtained from this study are meaningful and Foxconn’s successful experiences deserve other companies to learn.
