Teachers have to possess adequate information technology abilities to conform to the modern teaching needs. And the network multimedia and digital platform which combine texts, images, audio, video, animation, and sounds make the dissemination of information easier and faster. This gradually makes the traditional paper-books invert into digital multimedia files, and makes the ways of learning and leaning experiences more diversified. Teachers enhance students’ learning motivations and interests and develop students’ high-level thinking skills through network multimedia teaching. Moreover, network multimedia teaching enhances students’ learning effectiveness. The main purposes of this study are to understand the influence of the WebQuest thematic teaching upon school children’s high-level thinking skills, learning effectiveness, and learning behaviors. In order to reach the study purpose, this study adopted the experimental design. The study objects include 53 sixth graders, Wei-Sin Elementary School, Kaohsiung City. The teaching website was designed by the researcher. The experimental teaching lasted for ten weeks. The main findings were concluded as follows: 1. Learning motivations and satisfaction: High achievers had higher learning motivations and satisfaction on WebQuest thematic teaching. Students who were good at computer had better response to the teaching. iii The results showed that WebQuest thematic teaching could effectively promote high-ability students’ learning motivations and satisfaction. 2. High-level thinking skills and learning effectiveness: For students with higher learning satisfaction and grades, after the WebQuest thematic classes, their levels of thinking skills were obviously promoted. for students with lower learning satisfaction and grades, their levels of thinking skills weren’t promoted. WebQuest thematic teaching could efficiently promote high learning motivational students’ leaning effect, but it couldn’t make their thinking levels higher. 3. The aim of the study is to investigate the influence of the WebQuest thematic teaching upon school children’s high-level thinking skills and learning motivations, and to understand if students could accept WebQuest thematic teaching classes. The study results are offered for the future teachers as the references to the application of WebQuest thematic teaching in education.
