In this study, cerium doped terbium aluminum garnet phosphor was synthesized by solid-state reaction method with adding flux, which could enhance the fluorescence intensity. According to the experimental results, it shown that the emission intensity of TAG:Ce with 30 mol% flux C was the best. The XRD results shown that the phosphor was calcined at 1500℃ for 5 hours with 30 mol% flux C could obtained pure TAG phase, and the SEM image shown that the particle size was 2 μm.
From the photoluminescence (PL) spectrum, while the concentration of Ce3+ was increase, the emission intensity was decreased because of the concentration quenching effect. In addition, a red shift phenomenon of TAG:Ce powder was observed by adding excess concentration of Ce3+.
