This study aims to investigate the experience of the occurrence of occupational hazards, the anxiety sensitivity of the occurrence of occupational hazards along with the correlation of the two above-mentioned conditions in terms of the clinical nursing staffs from different medical units. The researcher applied cross-sectional study as the research method. Subjects were the nursing staffs from a teaching hospital in eastern Taiwan. Data were collected during December 1st, 2011 and March 31st, 2012. A total number of 236 cases were collected with an effective response rate of 94.7%. All of the data were coded, and analyzed by using SPSS 17.0. The study results are stated as follows. The nursing staffs from the medical wards were facing the highest risk of the occurrence of occupational hazards; in sequence, other medial units facing such a high risk were emergency and critical care units, special wards and surgical wards. In terms of psychological-social factor, the nursing staffs of the above-mentioned medical units affected the most. The experience of occupational hazards and nurses related anxiety sensitivity in different medical units varied significantly in respects of biological factor, chemical factor, human factors engineering factors, psychological-social factor and physical factor. The experience of occupational hazards and the anxiety sensitivity nursing staffs from different medical units varied significantly in aspects of the age of personal attributes, educational background, daily working hours, working units and working shifts. The researcher expects the study results can be utilized as the reference materials for decreasing threats from working environments. Consequently, each nursing staff can have correct and positive responding modes and can provide nursing service with happiness; the researcher also expect all nursing staff will be able to have a higher degree of both satisfaction and confidence on the improvement of occupational safety.
