Description
Summary:碩士 === 東方設計學院 === 文化創意設計研究所 === 101 === There is a wide range of applications for digital technologies, and in this case, multiple digital technologies were combined and used to innovate the traditional manufacturing metod into a new process of stacked glass art field by using the support concept of 3D computer aid design. Amoung the possible and available digital technologies, MicroStationTriforma, an American 3D engineering software, was chosen as the modeling tool in combination with West German blue-ray scanner, Freeform computer engraving machine with robotic arm, and RP automatic molding spray machine. This combination has solved varieties of situations and problems that were encountered during the process, and pushed the manufacturing of stacked glass art into a new phase. The completion of the background “Yushan”, of the main shrine of the Lukang Glass Temple, is an actual stacked glass art achievement in combining Taiwanese religious art and the creative creation. Later, the popularity of large stacked glass art has been rising in the past few years. This paper listed 5 larger and more famous individual creation projects: Light of Waves, Oriental Sunrise, The Galaxy, Lishan and Zhusheng Maddam, that combined cultural creative design and industry needs together. The developing process was explained and descriped through complete records with knowledge based on personal experience in development and creation to provide some reference and guideance to related industry and academic fields. This may also provide some actual contribution to the glass art industy. The 3D design center of the Department of Arts and Crafts in Tung Fang Design University was appointed to assist the design case of the Hu Shing Temple Glass Shrine of the Taiwan Glass Art Museum by the Taiwan Mirror Glass Enterprise Ltd. Since the case was completed as a team work and the tasks were divided and assigned individually, this paper will focus primarily on the job task assigned for the case, which was the computer design of stacked glass art. Therefore, this paper only contains, and limits to, the information on the creation of stacked glass art on the researcher’s personal involvement of this design case during the entire project period, from the initial case contact, shrine completion, to the finishing ceremy.
