In recent years due to the fast emergence of smart phones and tablet PCs, the worldwide shipments of notebooks has been gradually declining. In the meantime the smart devices has grown so rapidly and it is expected that the next revolutionary innovation will be the smart TV combining cloud computing. In this research the key strategies of future smart TV will be studied following the smart phones market developing pattern, and how Taiwan companies to come out the winning strategies in the next wave of smart TV business. It is also concluded that based on the successful stories of Apple, Samsung and Huawei, the software application platform, especially the proprietary ones, will be the key successful and profitable factors toward the smart device industry. Currently the TV controller IC provider MediaTek is the only Taiwan company who keeps the competitive edge globally in worldwide smart TV industry, and Taiwan government should keep expanding the investment on the software capabilities and talents by aiming at the creation of smart application and software platform, which eventually will lead to the general growth of national economy and industrial competitiveness.
