Taiwanese companies also began to import lean production methods nearly 10 years , making the overall industry environment changed. Many companies are constantly seeking ways to improve production. However, the introduction of lean production usually be failure. Many studies have experimented with Self-directed work team(SDWT) to solve the bottlenecks in the import process, but past literature never investigate how to let SDWT continue to improvement and whether SDWT fit for Lean Production or not. Therefore, this study attempts through theoretical and empirical investigation to clarify the establishment of a team ;and the relationship between the active characteristics and applicable situations. This research will clarify the previous team (Team) and group (Group) the difference between the change in their environment and Lean implementation difficulties, SDWT any shortcomings. By understanding the past obstacles in the composition of the team and how to compensate for the inadequacy of previous studies, summarized SDWT should possess characteristics; Finally, the two companies is the empirical objects, and framework will be empirical and theoretical analysis complement. The empirical study found that active characteristics molded at different times of Lean Revolution, must pay attention to the different active characteristics to overcome bottlenecks at different times; characteristics required by the various SDWT to play their strengths, as well as pay attention to wise team leader that team will be filled with vitality. Finally some vision is molded from high-level managers, but it must be based on the status of the work team to adjustments vision , in order to make the work team to understand the direction of development.
