In the period of student age, the experiences of living in a dorm are important transited period, hence, there is no discipline or company of families, we are able to choose our lifestyle freely, being alone or social, therefore, we start to recognize ourselves and become mature, and enter in the society.
On the other hand, dorms in Taiwan are different, they are compressed and standardized, and treated as secondary programs that need not taking care. Spaces in living become private and the only public space is circulation. "SOCIAL" turns out the awkward moment in the elevator. Hence, I'd like to create publicity from original student lifestyle patterns, to find out more possibilities of publicity.
The observation of back alleys help me to explore those possibilities, its outdoor additional programs and circulations create the publicity of modern congregated living, formed by personal territories and illegal spaces.
Strategy in design, I deconstructed and expanded the student publicity according to living programs and behaviors, to understand the differences of publicity and reconstruct them, and developed three space prototypes of dormitory, to accommodate the student lifestyle and increase the choices of living.
Space and behavior effect reciprocally, in DORM ONE, students could choose their own space according to their background lifestyle, in the mean time, they could interact with people through public living space, and recognize ourselves, and choose it again.
