Description
Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 教育研究所 === 101 === The present study is to understand the Christian educational philosophy of Child Evangelism Fellowship in Taiwan and its implementation. This study also examines the influences of Christian education implemented by Child Evangelism Fellowship on the religious commitment of young people and the influential mechanisms. To clearly show how the Christian education influences the religious commitment of young people, we have observed Christian Youth in Action held every summer by the Child Evangelism Fellowship. We attempted to understand the influences of the origins of participants, the motives of participants, educational philosophy, and the curriculum on religious commitment of young people. This study adopted a qualitative research design. The data were collected by interviewing in depth with the full-time teachers of Child Evangelism Fellowship, participant students, and their parents, observing the activities of Christian Youth in Action and Child Evangelism Fellowship, and collecting the publications from Child Evangelism Fellowship. The in-depth interviews are the main source of our data. As shown in the results, the youth who participated in Christian Youth in Action have demonstrated some changes: (1) in respect of religious understanding, they have shown the improvement in understanding Christian knowledge and their beliefs; (2) in respect of religious feelings, they can care for others with love, glory of God, and Christian commitment; (3) in respect of religious practices, they can strengthen their missionary activities and put their beliefs into practice. This study also investigates how the summer Christian Youth in Action influences the religious commitment of youths. It is found that the main influential mechanisms are: (1) multiple-aspect and practical instructional curriculum; (2) spiritual formation for spiritual needs; (3) model religious commitment of teachers and senior students; (4) support from social networks like peers, parents, church and communities.
