The Brothers Grimm fairy tales are popular among elementary school children. Values education has always been an essential and fundamental part of our schools’ mission. In this study, we will examine the impact of fairy tales on teaching school children virtues and moral values. This research has four specific aims: (a) to understand the importance of implementing values education on elementary school children; (b) to analyze core values reflected in Grimm’s fairy tales; (c) to elucidate the use of Grimm’s fairy tales in implementing values education; and (d) to provide promising reading guidance for parents and teachers to use Grimm’s fairy tales as a teaching tool of values education. The article is divided into four main sections. Section 1 illustrates the significance of this study and the importance of values education. Section 2 provides a general introduction to values education and examines moral themes in Grimm’s fairy tales. Section 3 analyzes textual elements of character, setting, plot, theme and point of view to indicate that the effectiveness of Grimm’s fairy tales in carrying out values education. Results are then presented, with a thorough description of the application of Grimm’s fairy tales in teaching moral values at elementary schools Grimm’s fairy tales is the treasure of children’s literature. School children can cultivate their moral values through immersing themselves in the imagination of these stories. To conclude, this study may be of importance in providing teachers and parents with a better understanding of the use of Grimm’s fairy tales as values education at schools, as well as in assisting children to enjoy their learning and to have a better life.
