Summary: | 碩士 === 臺北市立教育大學 === 音樂學系教學碩士學位班 === 101 === This research was to describe and explore the factors involved in the training, developing process and the potential future of a thunder drum club of an elementary school (anonymously named Yue Yin elementary school).
In the research, difficulties and the future development of the thunder drum club had also been discussed. Case study method was adopted in the research with all of the students, teachers, parents, and administrative staff from the thunder drum club participated in the interviews. The research period took place from September 2012 to April 2013.
The research presented the evolution of the thunder drum club of Yue Yin elementary school.
1. The thunder drum club of Yue Yin elementary school valued both teachers’ and students’ academic performance in terms of teaching and learning performance on other school subjects.
2. It was hard at the initial stage of the establishment as the club was lack of instruments, financial and parents’ support. The donation and the parents’ support group for the club was actually the key to the club’s success.
3. The recruitment required the candidates of the thunder drum club to pass musical sensation listening tests as well as an evaluation of his or her learning attitude. The team members were managed on a well-built reward system to ensure each individual was truly motivated. Even though, the thunder drum club was tight in budget, the instruments were still under good maintenance and management while practice venues had always been properly arranged. Everyone therefore had sufficient time for practices.
Eventually, the thunder drum club was well trained with various training methods and different teaching materials. Specialized in providing visual and sensational experience to its audience, the thunder drum club won many awards and hearts of the audience on its road shows.
4. Due to the lack of financial support and extra hands to assist with the establishment of the thunder drum club, the club had once fallen into difficulties at the early stage. Luckily, with the donation from an enthusiastic parent and the gathering of its parents’ support group, the thunder drum club was therefore much more organized. For now, the replacement of old instruments with new ones can be still challenging for financial reasons. And, the “crowding out effect” can increase the difficulties of recruiting talented students among music clubs on campus.
However, the above problems can possibly be solved by submitting funding application to the MOE and changing the thunder drum club’s recruitment strategy to bring in more great members.
5. The thunder drum club looks forward to creating a happy learning environment for the children and further social network to share experiences inside and outside of the school.
