The participants in the study were parents whose children placed in self-contained special edcation classrooms in seventh grades in TaoYuan, HsinChu, MiaoLi Counties and HsinChu City. The self-designed questionnaire was used in this study. There were 214 questionnaires sent out, then 170 were returned. The returned rate of valid questionnaires was 79%. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, two-way ANOVA, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The frequency of parents’ participations in the transition service was low. Transition services on the dimensions of "Preparation" and "Plan" were better than on the dimension of "Implement". 2. Parents were in need for assistance on participating transition service. The highest score was the dimension of “Action Strategies in Transition Services”. On the other hand, the score on the dimension of “The Supportive Transition Services” was the lowest. 3. Parents with college degrees or secondary education diplomas, or with monthly household income between NT $45000-90000 had better participation in the transition services. There was no significant difference observed in parents with other background variables. 4. Different background variables did not have the significant impacts on parnets’ needs for transition services. 5. The more parents participated in transition services, the more services they need.
