However, the researcher found that the cases in the language learning websites did not discuss the relationship between virtual characters and motivating factor. Therefore, this research studied motivating factors with virtual characters applied on virtual language learning communities. This study was divided into two stages of experiments. In the first stage, the researcher designed the basic interfaces and motivating modes for conducting user survey through a semi-open questionnaire. Then the researcher summarized the users’ expectations on the incentive factors in the language learning communities. According to the conclusion of the first questionnaire survey, the researcher designed motivating modes with two versions for the second phase study, i.e. “Badge-Dominant” and “Lottery-Dominant”. The researcher let users identify problems through task operations, and then the researcher resolved these problems and proposed new interfaces based on the results of experiments. The results of the experiment showed that: (1) No matter what types of motivating factors, there were no significant relationships between different genders and the enhancement of fun or sustained motivation to learn. (2) The motivating factor of using lottery points to exchange accessories was the best in enhancing the fun of learning and continuing motivation to learn. (3) Compared to the static faces of characters, dynamic faces could enhance the fun of learning and continuing motivation to learn. (4) The motivating factors of badge collection could enhance the fun of learning and continuing motivation to learn. (5) The virtual character dress-up mode could enhance the fun of learning and sustained motivation. Li-chieh Chen 陳立杰 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 102 zh-TW |
