It’s an effective and commonly used anesthesia. But how to find the gap of vertebrae is very important for epidural needle insertion. The purpose of this study is to develop an A-mode ultrasound transducer which can guide the insertion of epidural needle. The ultrasound probe consist of two concave annular elements with a hole in the center for epidural needle guidance. A prototype with 4.7 MHz and 12~61 mm focal depth、1.35 mm focal width was developed. And acoustic intensity meet the FDA specifications. In the lumbar vertebrae model experiment, the results demonstrated the feasibility of the ultrasound probe. In the ex vivo and in vivo porcine experiment, the result show that the gap of vertebrae can be identified by observing the changes of echo signals. When doing the epidural anesthesia, the ultrasound transducer can help the doctor to find path for epidural needle insertion. Yin Chang Gin-Shin Chen 張寅 陳景欣 2013 學位論文 ; thesis 52 zh-TW
