In most high speed motor, variable voltage variable frequency (VVVF) control is used to drive different type motors. The variable output voltage power factor correction converter and inverter are used to improve the high power factor and efficiency. For the low speed range, the trapezoidal pulse width modulation is used to driver motor for reduction in the switching losses and harmonic and higher line-to-line voltage. However, trapezoidal pulse width modulation may not be suitable for super high speed range and the dead time effect also makes the larger harmonic current, so the six-step modulation strategy is chosen for super-high speed operation. This paper utilizes MATLAB/Simulink to build the system structure model to confirm the feasibility, and experimental results are also provided to present the strategy is workable.
