It is more reliable and durable than traditional rear derailleurs. The purpose of this work is to develop control mechanisms for multi-speed bicycle drive hubs. The configurations of several transmission hubs and corrsponding clutching sequance tables are introduced, and the mechanical efficiency of theses transmission hubs are calculated by using fundamental circuit method. A design process for the implementation of control mechanisms of multi-speed transmission hubs is proposed. Three design examples including two 8-speed and one 12-speed transmission hubs are presented to illustrate the embodyment design of related control mechanisms associated with transmission mechanisms.
