Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 應用外語系碩士班 === 101 === According to many past studies, reading could help improve writing. Hence, the present study aims to discover the impact of memorizing model essays and prose modeling on EFL college students’ writing performance. Thirty-nine freshmen of Department of Applied Foreign Languages of a university of science and technology in central Taiwan involved in this present study. Through the process of writing pretests and posttests, the scores from thirty-nine participants were compared and analyzed. The statistic result indicated that the participants wrote significantly better in the posttests than in the pretests. In addition, from the students’ feedback on the questionnaire, about seventy percents of them showed their appreciation toward this intervention. Over ninety percents of the students stated that they understood the model essays better after reading the model essays several times and gained writing knowledge from the memorizing process. Besides, around eighty percents of the participants supported this intervention in writing class. Although writing itself is a non-linear and complicated process and is hard to teach and to acquire, researchers and teachers have tried out their effort to seek out any possible and useful methods for decades. From the current study, memorizing model essays is manifested as an effective method and worth applying.
