Summary:碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 應用外語系碩士班 === 101 === The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the benefits and shortcoming of team teaching between Taiwanese English teachers and foreign teachers. Some of the areas were student problems, teaching material challenges, conflicts with the authority, and finally clashes between teachers themselves. The teachers who participated in my survey are all English teachers. Twelve are foreign teachers and 23 are Taiwanese teachers. There were 9 male and 3 female foreign teachers and 3 male and 20 female Taiwanese teachers during the teaching year in which I did my survey. The questionnaires were administered to foreign and Taiwanese teachers from Taichung public schools. An interview was made to a foreign teacher. Results were compiled, sorted, interpreted and analyzed in this thesis. The findings of this research were summarized as follows: 1. For the problem of having advanced students in classes, 52% of Taiwanese teachers would assign tutoring, and 50% of foreign teachers would modify curriculum. 2. About the material asked the teachers how they would handle not enough materials, 91% of Taiwanese and 75% foreign teachers would provide the students supplements. 3. Relating to the problem of the conflict with the superiors, 83% of Taiwanese and 58% of foreign teachers tried to solve the problem. 4. In response to clashes between teachers, 100% of Taiwanese and 83% foreign teachers tried to compromise. 5. In terms of the possible language problems, 30% of Taiwanese teachers tried to replace co-teachers, 42% of foreign teachers would teach them, and 2 foreign teachers tried to learn Chinese. Based on the findings, people will be able to better understand how team teaching works here. Teachers will understand the benefits and challenges of such a program.
