Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 視覺傳達設計系碩士班 === 101 === Taiwan is an island of mountains, which entails its inseparable connection with mountains. Recently as people’s living standards improved, more and more people like to do leisure activities in mountains during holidays. However, tourist maps of mountain nowadays tend to focus on all sorts of activities and the appeal of the overall layout, rather than the description of terrain levels. Therefore, this creation aims to create a three-dimensional display of mountains through the traditional origami skills. In the process of paper-folding, people could learn information about Taiwan’s mountains and its terrain features, and thereby raise interests and attention to the mountains. In addition, since origami is highly portable and technically friendly to users, I hope to develop commemorative and practical mountain scenery products. In the process of creation, through data collection and experiment, I tried to present the shape of mountain on the paper without cutting and gluing. Without affecting the overall origami modeling, I combined or omitted some trifling fold lines, simplifying the complicated process into a step-by-step crease pattern and flow chart. This makes the mountain origami accessible for DIY users. As for developing commemorative products, I tried various combinations of different types of paper and lighting, and found the type of paper that best present the imposing appearance of mountain. By combining the traditional origami and lighting, I developed lamp holder souvenirs that feature mountain scenery, artistic value of origami and lighting effects. A total of fifteen mountains origami and nine flowcharts of Taiwan’s high mountains origami have been created. Based on the creation process and results, some reviews are provided regarding origami skills upgrades and reinforcement to the information on mountains. As for upgrading origami skills, I need to learn more about origami skills and its application to make the model be more correspondent with the alpine terrain features. As for reinforcing the information on mountains, through fieldworks, I need to complement unclear and fragmentary information in all kinds of documents and picture records. For the subsequent creation and development direction, I provide three guidelines. First, the model should be easy enough for end-users to create and be mass-produced. Second, the model should integrate origami with trail maps and scenic spots introduction so that the folded model would better fit diverse purposes. Third, in addition to colors of the light, I also take other choices of lighting into consideration, such as shape, size, and intensity, so as to achieve richer lighting effects of the lamp holder.
