Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 管理碩士在職專班 === 101 === The purpose of this thesis was mainly due to the trend that nowadays while international companies are becoming more aggressive in developing patent capital and tougher at claiming patent rights, Taiwan manufacturers, on the other hand, are relatively weaker compared to those international competitors., As the result of weak patent protection, Taiwan companies have paid very high cost in patent infringement litigation and compensation over the years. Smartphone, for example, with the rapid growth in demand, in order to contend for a considerable amount of potential business opportunities, a large number of international companies, use the patent litigation as a means of suppressing and restraining their competitors. This thesis analyzed the granted United States Patents of Apple、Samsung and HTC, including the filling trend , granted trend and major UPC which these companies had developed, and then, compared them with the market mainstream technologies, in order to figure out how these 3 companies' patent strategies affected their business and competition positions. Finally, we found these companies had built pretty strong patent capital either by in house development or M&;A , especially in the user interface and communications relevant technologies patents, that matched to the specifications of current mainstream market. Also, we found that these investments in patent development had helped these companies in reinforcing their competition positions. Thus patent strategy plays a very critical and important role for companies in operation.
