| Summary: | 碩士 === 大葉大學 === 設計暨藝術學院碩士班 === 102 === Because of decreasing of family members, the demands for small area, two-room apartments are increasing. To take full use the limited space of this kind of apartments, island kitchen is becoming more and more popular nowadays. Island kitchen originated from Germany, dining culture must be investigated and considered in order to meet local needs.
Interviews were made first to professionals and ordinary people, followed byquestionnaire surveys to potential customers regarding their dining habits and needs for kitchen.
The results show that most subjects hope to keep their current dining style while some do show their willingness to adapt to new kitchen. Ventilation must be well considered because most subjects like to use gas oven for frying or deep frying. Most
subjects also hope to have large storage space in the island kitchen and dining can be included as well. As for style, most subjects prefer simple and neat ones for easy cleaning. Computer 3D model was finally presented to show a proposal of island
kitchen for local need.
