The major function of these studs is to clearly indicate the roadway alignment for the drivers at night, especially during rainfall. On the other hand though, road studs with low quality can and will be dangerous for roadway users. The roads in Taiwan always have uneven surfaces which may endanger the safety of the public, especially that of motorcyclists and bicycle riders. In addition to that risk, any of the chemical or mechanical processes by which the reflective road studs are exposed to when the weather undergo changes can result in character distortion and product break down. Our goal is to reduce the damage of these road studs and to make them work more efficiently on the roads. The study uses Analytic Network Process (ANP) to explore the function of the new product - the low height tempered glass reflective marker. The results of the study showed a good response. Since the product’s height measures only 9mm, the road occupants passing the new product feel very secure. Furthermore the new product has advantages in life span, economic value and security.
