Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 心理學系 === 102 === This thesis follows to some extent the written style of "The death of Woman Wang". Jonathan D. Spence used historical data to create a fictitious story. There are four comic stories in the thesis, describing three themes which includes "Mother," "clan," and "I."Therianthropy means human beings are cursed and transformed into animals or monsters. In my stories, the characters are obsessed with pursuing power and wealth, and finally they are all cast the spells to become monsters. The monsters symbolize my relationships with my mother, my clan, and myself. Ubume(Harpy) and Mrs. Dress (Zhi Nu/Weaver Maid) represent violence and love for children; TāoTiè means greed; and Sphinx means the puzzle of humans to their own beings. The reason of using comic style for a self-narrative story is because comics is the language of a comic creator, as well as a symbol of comic creators' identity. I experienced violence and love through a comic culturethat raises me up, so to speak. Public opinions has it that comics are books with toxic nature stuffed with pornography, violence, vulgarity, and never has anything to do with artwork. However, I have been inspired by reading comics and have learned drawing from comics, and while I participated in comic related activities, I wasencouraged and made friends with many comic-lovers.The comic world is not like their opponents 'all negation that they are made of demonized images and words. On the contrary, there are plenty of growthful power in it if seen in a dialectical perspective. So think I, therefore will Iwrite down and write on all those experiences, as a comic creator no less.
