碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 德國語文學系碩士班 === 102 === This master thesis is about to the new gender-relations in Arthur Schnitzler’s two novellas Casanovas Heimfahrt and Traumnovelle. In the first chapter, the motivation of this research and the structure of this thesis are declared; in second chapter, the subject of gender-relations in Schnitzler’s other dramas and novellas is represented; in the third chapter, the male and female figures in Casanovas Heimfahrt are analysed. By the comparison of the erotism of young and old Casanova, we can clearly find out the change of his association with women. Besides the protagonist, the analysis of female figures, namely Marcolina and Amalia, makes the abandonment of the moral norms as well as the erotic emancipation of women significantly. In the forth chapter, not only the main characters in Traumnovelle – Albertine and Fridolin – are analysed, but also their experiences in fantasy and dream is interpreted, which potentially influence their marriage community. In the fifth chapter, the results of the analysis of the two novels are summarized: the changes of the inner worlds of the protagonists in these two works are controlled by the female figures, so that the chief position of women and the accepted position of men are apparant. Besides, by means of the female characters in these two works we can clearly find out, that women don’t play the role anymore, which is eliminated by the moral norms. They emancipate active their own sensuality, so the new image of women is represented.
