The Goddess worshipped in the temple is a soft statue with freely moveable limbs. Her body is an empty bamboo splint woven article, which is already rarely seen in Taiwan. Its ceremony of Wang Boat, a nonscheduled ritual, is one of the Wang Boat belief systems in Erren basin. The style of Jiading Wang Boat is more like that of Wen Wang(God of Plague) Boat, and to thank gods and pray for peace becomes the main purpose of the ceremony. With the approaches of Literature Analysis and Field Observation, this thesis not only studies the environment around Jiading area and the history of Jin Luan Gung but talks about its architectural style, art deco and artifacts. Furthermore, some related topics such as the origin of Plague Offering rituals in early years, an overview of Jin Luan Gung Plague Offering, its folk art groups, the designing of Wang Boat and its colored drawing are also discussed. Through the research process, we have a chance to understand the importance of Jin Luan Gung in Jiading area and to realize how precious its folk art groups and artifacts are. The celebration of Jin Luan Gung Plague Offering contains a great diversity of activities. Its diverse troupes and exquisite carpentry of Wang Boat are so representative of the Plague Offering events in Kaohsiung and full of local features that Jin Luan Gung Plague Offering Ceremony has been registered, since August 14th , 2012, as one of the cultural assets in Kaohsiung. Integrated with martial art, drama, music and dance, Jin Luan Gung folk art groups present local art performing in all aspects, play an essential role in religious activities and people’s everyday life, and, most importantly, show the strong vitality that lies in the most basic level of Taiwan’s society.
