Based on congruence transformation and linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, a new condition is derived for the existence of controllers having hybrid H2/H∞performance and parameter uncertainty robustness. Due to the coupling of the unknown variables, the stability condition is bilinear and hence not easily tractable by standard optimization techniques. Therefore, the proposed design method is derided into two steps to circumvent the nonlinearity problem. In the first step, we can easily solve some LMI conditions because they are linear in the unknown variables and obtain the Lyapunov matrix. Then, we inject this matrix into the condition of the second step which becomes an input parameter for the second step and transforms the bilinear matrix inequality (BMI) condition into a linear matrix inequality (LMI).
