With the updating of social trends, costumes are updated all the time. Popular trends are what matter the most to young people. As the younger generations become more financially independent, they spend at will on the things they like. Therefore, discovering what the new trends are and how to motivate young people to buy have become important issues worth discussing. Among the younger generations, college students tend to be more cultivated and have the ability to lead the trend. Female college students, especially, have displayed different tastes for their choice of clothing, including styles, colors, patterns and textures, under the impact of today's social as well as cultural standards for beauty. This study aimed to understand the interactions among the choosing of styles, colors and emotions among female college students with various personalities, heights, weights, and postures. The study adopted two questionnaires, " Personalities of Female College Students" and "Emotional Reactions to Costume Colors: likes and dislikes." The latter was composed of two parts, including nine costume pattern designs, in which three colors and three styles (sweet, lively, nostalgic) are mix-matched. Through the analysis of the questionnaires, the costume patters designed in this study were further examined to see if they matched the tastes and likes of female college students. Hopefully, the results of the study could shed some light on improving the follow-up works and designs. The study also explored whether the differences in personalities and postures of female college students are significantly related to their choices of costume styles and colors.
