Although some of them may use FE software to analyze the new design then modify it according to the analysis results. But this process cannot always guarantee to obtain a good design. This does not mean that CAE technique is not suitable for machine tool design. The actual reason is that they only perform the static structural analysis and is lack of dynamic and mechatronic analysis. This CAE technique is very difficult and needs to integrate a lot source to perform. Therefore, only a few companies in the world can actual carry out the whole process of mechatronic combined with dynamic analysis. The main issue in this paper is to integrate the structural analysis, dynamic motion analysis, and control simulation to perform mechatronic simulation and analysis for machine tool feed drive system. Also experiments on feed drive system will be carried out to help modify and verify the simulation results. Once we know how to perform mechatronic simulation, then we can understand more about effect of each parameter on feeding system. This technique can help us to design new feed drive system or analyze old one to figure out the reason of problem.
