In this thesis, we first define a new resource allocation model for downlink traffic of the LTE-A network and then utilize the well-known metaheuristic algorithm, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), to find an approximate optimal solution on transmission path selection and radio channel allocation. Moreover, our simulation results demonstrate that our PSO algorithm indeed has the ability to find an efficient resource allocation solution for the LTE-A downlink traffic, that is, with as minimum overall latency on data transmission of the whole system as possible.
