The laser rangefinder technology is fulfilled by using a pulsed laser system as a light source to emit stable optical signals. When a receiver measured the reflected optical signals from a reflector, the time difference between the emitted and the reflected light can be instantaneously analyzed through an electronic microprocessor. The distance between the emitter and the reflector can be systematically calculated with the information of the measured time difference between the signals. In this work we employ the continuous high-speed pulsed technology to successfully develop a powerful dual-mode laser rangefinder system which maintains fairly precise measurement for different measured distances. Moreover, it can be expected that the simplicity of the circuit design and low power consumption could lead the system to be served as a portable device in the future.
