The participants were 835 fifth and sixth grade students from Taipei、New Taipei City、Taoyuan County public elementary schools. Questionnaire survey has been utilized as the research method and descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, MANOVA, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation and multiple regression analysis were applied to analyze the data. The major findings of this study were summarized as the following: first, elementary school students demonstrated a medium to high level of mathematics learning engagement. Second, elementary school students’ mathematics anxiety was below average. Third, there was some difference in mathematics learning engagement among elementary school students, depending on gender, parents’ socioeconomic status, and the frequency of after school class involvement. Fourth, there was some difference in mathematics anxiety among elementary school students, depending on gender and the frequency of after school class involvement. Fifth, there was a significant positive correlation between mathematics learning engagement and mathematics anxiety. Final, elementary school students’ mathematics learning engagement can positively predict their mathematics anxiety.
